Our Studio Selection pieces are well suited to anyone who is feeling overwhelmed by the idea of going through the custom design process.
We understand that it can feel daunting to consider all the elements of the custom design process such as stone and design choices, budget expectations, and committing to a piece that you cannot yet envision - so we created Studio Selection to bridge the gap between fully custom and ready-to-purchase bespoke rings.
Select your unique design
Each of our Studio Selection gemstones has been personally hand-selected by Claire and Kelsey.
We have created a bespoke design intended specifically for each stone, allowing its proportions and characteristics to lead the form while paying close attention to the functional aspects of the design to ensure your piece is suitable for a lifetime of wear.
Select your ring size and preferred metal
When you select a Studio Selection piece, you are purchasing the featured gemstone and its exclusive design.
You may then personalise your ring by choosing your preferred metal and ring size, after which it will be individually manufactured to order in our studio.
Manufacturing
With your design selected and details finalised, your ring moves into our workshop.
We will handcraft your piece to our exacting Botanica standards and share updates as it progresses through each stage. Studio Selection lead times are typically 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the complexity of the design.
Shipping or Collection
The most exciting step is receiving your ring. Each Studio Selection piece is presented in our custom luxury packaging, thoughtfully designed to create a special, considered Botanica experience before you even open the box.
You are welcome to collect your piece from our studio, or we will send it to you with complimentary express shipping, or free international delivery.
STUDIO SELECTION - EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
What is a ready to purchase design?
A "ready-to-purchase" design means you’re securing a hand-selected gemstone and a design we’ve already thoughtfully created, before the piece is manufactured.
Each design features entirely unique stones paired with a design to showcase them beautifully. It gives you a bespoke Botanica piece without having to start the design process from scratch, which reduces the overall lead time, while maintaining the flexibility of selecting your desired metal and specific ring size.
Will I be able to make changes to the design?
This one is a “maybe” - we can consider small adjustments to the design such as changing the side stones or claw design but any major changes will need to discussed to see if the proposed changes are viable for the selected gemstones and the stated price. How long will it take for the piece to be finished?
Our Studio Selection pieces will be completed and ready to collect or courier within 3-5 weeks of purchase, depending the complexity of the design you selected. Lead times for each piece will be listed below the specific design.
Slight design changes, delays in providing a ring size, or custom engraving requests may lead to an increase the lead time.
What if I don't live in Cape Town?
We have many clients who are unable to visit our studio to either discuss the design, view the stones, or collect their piece.
We have facilitated many custom designs virtually over email and we are very comfortable with this process. We will be in communication with you throughout the manufacturing process.
Our trusted local shipping partners have safely delivered countless engagement rings all over South Africa and each of our Studio Selection pieces will be shipped with complimentary express local shipping and insurance.

Why would I purchase a design that hasn't been made yet?
Purchasing a piece that has not been manufactured yet means that we are able to craft the ring to your exact size and in your preferred metal choice.
Our Studio Selection pieces are also offered at a more accessible price point because all the stone selection and design work has already been completed and can be completed in a shorter time than our custom pieces
What if I get my ring size wrong?
Sometimes the ring size provided is too big or too small for the wearer. This is generally not a problem if the ring only needs to be sized a few sizes up or down.
As part of our service, we offer a complimentary resizing of two sizes up or down on our Studio Selection pieces. This service is valid for 30 days after receiving your ring.
Any sizing that is greater than two sizes (up or down) will need to be assessed for feasibility with the design, and will be quoted on.
You are welcome to reach out to us if you are unsure of sizing or have any concerns.
What is the difference between Studio Selection and Custom?
Our Studio Selection pieces are the perfect balance between Botanica Bespoke "ready to purchase" products and our full custom design offering.
Our custom design process is a more time consuming process as we will source stones, draw up a design proposal, and make suggestions according to the client's specific brief. This can take up to 3 weeks just to finalise the stone selection and design. The entire custom design process can take up to 10 weeks.
With our Studio Selection pieces, the stones have been pre-selected for the specific design, and the piece will enter our manufacturing schedule as soon as your purchase has been made and ring size selected.
Due to the mitigated design and sourcing hours, we are able to offer our Studio selection pieces at a lower cost than our fully custom designed pieces.
Will my piece be One-of-a-Kind?
Every Botanica ring is designed around the selected gemstone or diamond and the source inspiration.
This means that while we may repeat design concepts (such as our Protea Ring), each piece still remains unique.
